So it's my first blog post. I imagine you're wildly anticipating it's release, or posting, or whatever you call a published blog. (I'm a newbie; can't ya tell).
So it's the holidays. School is out, extra cooking is happening and family togetherness is kicked into high gear. It's Christmas Eve Eve and I've just sent my husband out into the throngs of shoppers to pick up one more thing from Santa to our youngest daughter - the latter of the R's, age 2.5. See, I've named my blog cheekily "R & R and lack thereof" because our daughters are named Reese and Rylee, and although their initials are R & R, they're really anything but. They are a handful. (And yes, I know, you probably have 4 kids and are WAY busier than I. More power to you!) Back to hubby - I then called him and asked him to also go to the grocery store for additional provisions. Being the great guy that he is - he said yes. YES, score - more time for sitting on the couch and starting my blog. Maybe I'll get up and wrap his Christmas present in a minute. I'm not really a procrastinator. Not all the time.
Here is a picture of my family in all our adorable-ness. Can you tell that big R loves to pose and have her photo taken, and little R is not cooperating? This was one of many photos used on our Christmas card - something which I outdo myself on every year. (I'll probably do a blog post about that one day).
On to Christmas festivities- on Christmas Eve, we get together with my Mom and my sister's family. This year Christmas Eve celebrations are at my home and we're having steaks, so I don't feel like there's much preparation needed for that. My husband is an awesome grill master here at "Ratcliff grill." I am making a few things for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day though. I am a HUGE fan of Southern Living (the magazine and the way of living) and their Chocolate Eclair Cake from the 2003 Annual Cookbook is the best! It's easy and yummy - a real crowd pleaser. You can find it on my Pinterest page. Sorry there is no awesome photo. I guess you'll just have to take my word for it that it's good. I also make monkey bread and breakfast casserole every year for Christmas morning, and although the actual casserole recipe varies - it always includes cheese, meat, and eggs. This year I'm throwing in hash browns too! I think breakfast casserole is yummy, and maybe one year my kids will too. (I guess a picky eater raises picky eaters). Here's the recipe and the lovely photo I borrowed from myrecipes.com.
So...I've got a lot of cooking, wrapping, and Santa playing to do. What do you make for Christmas? How do you celebrate with your family? Are you tired yet?!
Currently listening to +Pandora Laid Back Beach Music (to calm my holiday nerves).
